Find anime by title, optionally filtered by year.

Uses the legacy map dataset plus unmapped AniDB entries. Results may differ from the v1 map.

Routes

GET/api/search?q={query}

Words match prefixes (narut finds Naruto). Append a four-digit year to filter. Results include IDs and titles; unmapped AniDB entries have mal_id: null. Exact matches rank first, then mapped results by MAL ID, then unmapped results by AniDB ID.

Punctuation is normalized: × becomes x, apostrophes disappear, and other marks separate words.

q: at least two letters or digits, or one plus a year. limit: default 25, maximum 100.
